Registration
The 7th Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition will be held at OHCHR headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland from 8-10 December 2015
 
The Competition is open to undergraduate students from all institutions of tertiary education in the world.
 
Participation in the competition is not restricted to law students, but it is expected that in most cases the teams participating in this event will be comprised of students who study law.
 
Every university in the world is invited to present a team of two students – preferably one woman and one man – to the 7th Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition which will be held in Genva from 8 to 10 December 2015. The universities first have to submit memorials on the basis of the hypothetical case.
 
The first selection of Universities will be on the basis of written memorials.

Registration Procedure

Every university in the world is invited to present a team of two students – preferably one woman and one man – to the 7th Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition which will be held in Geneva from 8 to 10 December 2015.

Participation in the Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition happens in 3 phases of progressive elimination

1. Phase 1: Registration of teams and submission of memorials

  • Registration opens on 1 April 2015. All teams are required to submit written memorials before 1 September 2015.
  • Registration and submission of memorials is free of charge.

2. Phase 2: Pre-final rounds

  • The top 5 teams from each of the UN regions are selected on the basis of their memorials to take part in the pre-final rounds in Geneva on 8 and 9 December 2015.
  • Teams which take part in the pre-final rounds in Geneva are required to pay a participation fee of ZAR 7500.

3. Phrase 3: Final round in Geneva

  • The top 2 teams from the pre-final rounds advance to the final round to be held in Room XX of the Palais des Nations (the Human Rights Council Chamber) on 10 December 2015- International Human Rights Day.
