Registered undergraduate and postgraduate students from all tertiary institutions in Africa are invited to participate in the FACES 2018: African Student Cellphone Film Competition.

The closing date for FACES 2018 is 31 July 2018.

Submit your entry online (Deadline: 31 July 2018)

The purpose of the Competition is to encourage students from Africa to express themselves and to engage with issues of relevance to Africa, using available cellphone technology.

FILM IT.

Make a short fictional film or animation by using your smartphone. The maximum length is 3 minutes.

TWEAK IT.

Films can be edited and must contain the words ‘human’ and ‘rights’ and ‘wrongs’, in any order, in the dialogue, or in written form..

SUBMIT IT.

Films should be uploaded to YouTube/Vimeo and submitted via the online form before 31 July 2018.

SCREEN IT.

The winning entries will be screened at the Faculty of Law Festival holding in August 2018 at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

Prize details

Three winners will be selected by an independent panel of experts. The panel of experts will evaluate each film according to its own creative and technical merits.

The winning entry will get a cash prize of R10 000, the second prize wins R5 000 cash while the third prize wins R3 000 cash.
