Dr Attila Teplan

Head of Division, Registry, European Court of Human Rights

Dr Attila Teplan, an alumnus of the Budapest Faculty of Law in Hungary, was first a case lawyer at the European Commission of Human Rights, before taking up a similar post with the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, in 1999. Head of a legal division including lawyers from six countries, he has been working on many judgments of the European Court including those of the Grand Chamber. Teaching the European system at the Master’s in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa programme of the Centre for Human Rights since 2007, Dr Teplan has also been involved in numerous professional trainings extended to the African Court of Human and Peoples' Rights and the East African Court of Justice. He is a recurrent moot judge at the African and the World Moot Court Competitions since 2015.
