This year’s dialogue builds upon the successes of previous conventions held in 2023 and 2024, continuing a collective commitment to deepening the relationship between the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) and civil society organisations (CSOs) throughout the continent.

The 2025 edition will engage with the African Union’s theme for the year, “Year of Reparations: Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through Reparations.” The discussions will explore critical questions of democracy, human rights, governance, and peacebuilding, providing a collaborative platform for reflection and joint action between CSOs and Pan-African Parliamentarians (PAP). The dialogue will also engage on matters of peace and security in Africa, particularly the democratic governance and security challenges in the Sahel region and the ongoing conflict in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

The keynote address: to be delivered by Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, former Chairperson of the African Union, who will share her lived experiences, shaped by her role at the African Union. She will engage on the continent’s evolving political landscape and the importance of unity and justice in advancing Africa’s development agenda. The dialogue will also promote parliamentary accessibility and accountability, aiming to strengthen the interface between the Pan-African Parliament and domestic legislatures while enhancing citizen engagement across Africa.
