On the occasion of the International Day for Countering Hate Speech, UNESCO will launch its new Issue Brief Media and Information Literacy: Combating Hate Speech in the Digital Age during the webinar entitled “Countering Hate Speech in the Digital Age: Promoting Information Integrity and Resilient Societies.”
The Issue Brief explores how MIL can strengthen citizens’ resilience to hate speech, disinformation, and harmful online content through critical thinking, education, and cross-sectoral cooperation. It also highlights the growing role of AI and digital platforms in amplifying harmful narratives and the importance of long-term, rights-based responses.
