Background:

The African Coalition for Corporate Accountability (ACCA) is a coalition of more than a hundred civil society organizations based in Africa and supporting communities and individuals whose human rights are adversely impacted daily by the activities of multi-national and national corporations. ACCA’s members work on issues ranging from mining and other extractive industries to public and private security sector accountability; natural resource rights, including land acquisition, tenure, property rights; financial regulatory policy; accountability mechanisms for human and peoples’ rights and environmental rights. The ACCA secretariat is based the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria.

ACCA is looking for a dedicated, creative, and energetic person who will work as ACCA Project Administrator. The ACCA Project Administrator will work under the supervision of ACCA’s Manager and will support the work of the ACCA secretariat by providing assistance on project development and implementation, supporting ACCA partners, undertaking advocacy and conducting research.

Responsibilities: 

The incumbents will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Project Manager with programme and project coordination;
  • Providing assistance with research and writing research results;
  • Coordinating and assisting with project events management;
  • Liaising with stakeholders and advocacy;
  • General and communication and marketing administration.

Minimum requirements: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a field related to business and human rights,with a total of one year of experience in:
    • Project coordination and implementation;
    • Liaising with project stakeholders;
    • Research and writing;

OR

  • A three-year diploma in a field related to business and human rights with two years’ experience mentioned above.

Required competencies (skills, knowledge and behavioural attributes):

  • Research and writing skills in English;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently;
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines.

Added advantages and preferences:

  • LLB/Honours in a field related to business and human rights;
  • Qualification in project management;
  • One year of experience in social media and website content development, event coordination/administration, and financial administration.

PLEASE NOTE: This position requires the ability to work remotely and from the Centre’s office at the University of Pretoria. It also involves regional and international work-related travels.
