The Panel Discussion will gather representatives from non-governmental organisations, gender justice activists, honourable representatives from embassies, and human rights practitioners with the overall objective of engaging in a discussion on the particularities of the gender persecution being perpetrated in Afghanistan, and those of the gender persecution that may underlie sexual violence perpetrated during armed conflict in parts of Africa. The discussion will assist in interrogating the role of tribunals like the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal in bringing about accountability for gender persecution in Afghanistan, and in reflecting on the impact of recognising gender persecution on prevention and prosecution.
Light refreshments will be served after the Panel Discussion.
