Previous experience

I am a gender and women’s rights specialist with over 20 years work experience, predominantly in the women’s rights, HIV and education sectors. I have experience in research, program management, advocacy and capacity building focusing specifically on gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive rights. Currently I am Deputy Director of Programs for No Means No Worldwide. No Means No Worldwide is a gender-based violence prevention organisation that teaches empowerment self-defence to youth across the world. Before joining No Means No Worldwide, I was the Women’s Rights Programme Manager at the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria and in this role supported African Union member states to report on implementation of the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa.

Academic fields of interest:

My research interests are in women's rights broadly and sexual and reproductive health rights, sexual andgender-based violence and women’s participation in social movements.
