The Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, seeks to appoint a Video Documentary Consultant on the Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa.

Background Information
The Master’s programme in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa (Master’s programme) is a prestigious one-year intensive course where 25-30 exceptional individuals spend six months at the Centre for Human Rights, Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria South Africa (Centre for Human Rights) and six months at one of the 12 partner universities all over Africa. They are taught by eminent lecturers in the field of human rights and undergo many practical training exercises. It is the only course of its kind in Africa. Graduates become members of the HRDA Alumni Association whose 588 members are currently active in the full spectrum of human rights work: from grassroots, through civil service, to international organisations including the African Union and the United Nations. In 2019, the Centre for Human Rights launched an Alumni Diaries to celebrate 20 years of the Master’s programme. Building on the Alumni Diaries and the existing video, the Centre for Human Rights is seeking for a consultant to make a 10 minutes video on the Master’s programme.

Consultant’s Task:
The consultant will submit a video on the Master’s programme. The Consultant is expected to undertake interviews with staff of the Master’s programme at the Centre for Human Rights, staff from partner universities and alumni.

Timeframe:
1 - 31 July 2021

Remuneration:
The consultant will receive 150,000 South African Rands upon the submission of a finalised video, to the satisfaction of the Centre for Human Rights (This includes the cost of production and is inclusive of taxes).
