Country / Where did you grow up:
I grew up in Koibatek District located at the Former Rift Valley Province in Kenya

Academic qualifications:
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, from the University of Nairobi, Kenya

Experience:
I worked at the Gender Violence Recovery Centre (GVRC) of the Nairobi Women’s Hospital as Social Worker for a year and was involved with providing psychosocial care to survivors of gender based violence.

I also worked at GVRC as a Programme Officer for two years and it involved result-based programme development and management, advocacy and lobbying, establishing partnerships, developing and implementing research agenda and resource mobilization with regards to gender based violence.

Currently I work as a Director at a grass root organization I founded called the Gender Empowerment & Wellness Centre (GEWEC) that seeks to empower women and children through initiatives such as mentorship, life skills education, sexual and reproduction education and care among others. Also, I am implementing a research agenda on FGM in my community.

Sexual and reproductive health and rights

Position prior to the programme:
Prior this programme, I worked at a grass root organization that seeks to empower women and children through various community- based initiatives.
