The Centre for Human Rights, together with the Centre for Applied Legal Studies (CALS), the South African Institute for Advanced Constitutional, Public, Human Rights and International Law (SAIFAC) and the Singapore Management University (SMU), form a coalition of human rights organisations and institutions mandated by the United Nations Working Group on Business and Human Rights to critically look at NAPs from a global south perspective. The coalition has three substantive points of departure in mind – gender, post-conflict societies, and emerging economies.

The information-gathering phase of the project will consist of two regional consultations. The first will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, in November 2014. The second regional forum is planned for early 2015 and will be held in Singapore.

The findings of the project will be included in a comprehensive report looking at NAPs from these perspectives and delivered to the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights.
