LLB (Hons), Chancellor College

Previous experience

I graduated from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College with an LLB (Hons) in December 2006 and immediately joined the Department of Legal Aid (now called the Legal Aid Bureau), which was then under the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. I worked as a Legal Aid Advocate for seven years, from 2006 to 2013. While at Legal Aid I dedicated my time defending people accused of homicide offences and other offences. Our concentration was on defending vulnerable persons. Later on, I was transferred to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) where I am working up to date. While working for the DPP I am responsible for training fellow officers, the police and magistrates. We are also responsible for giving advice to Government Departments and ministries on policy and legal matters. Further since 2016 I have been the person responsible for co-ordinating training workshops and prosecutions of cases related to attacks on persons with albinism.
