Mzimba, Malawi

Bachelor of Science in Infomration and Communication Technology; Masters in Public Policy and Governance.

Previous experience

I have an academic background in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and hold a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Governance, with research focused on disability policy implementation in Malawi and broader policy analysis in Africa. I am also a Mandela Washington Fellow, which has further strengthened my leadership and civic engagement experience.

Professionally, I currently work as a Program Officer for Sub-Saharan Africa at Disability Rights Fund/Disability Rights Advocacy Fund, where I support grantmaking, strategy development, and capacity building for organisations of persons with disabilities. I also have experience with the African Union Commission, where I contributed to disability policy development and mainstreaming efforts, as well as research and consultancy work on disability inclusion and the Sustainable Development Goals. Earlier in my career, I worked in monitoring and evaluation, project coordination, and ICT systems support, particularly within the water and sanitation sector in Malawi.

Academic fields of interest:

My academic interests focus on public policy and governance, particularly public policy analysis and research, as well as disability policy and disability rights, including the inclusion of persons with disabilities, especially in employment and inclusive labour systems. I am also interested in environmental policy, peace and conflict studies, and development studies.

Position prior to the programme

Before joining the programme, I worked as a Disability Inclusion Associate at the African Union Commission (September 2019 – February 2020), where I supported disability mainstreaming efforts and contributed to policy development.
