Sara Hafidh | Zanzibar, Tanzania

 Degree of Law and Sharia (LLB) at Zanzibar University (ZU) Tanzania and Maters of Law in Jurisprudence (LLM) at Beijing Normal University, China.

Previous experience

Regional Magistrate at Judiciary of Zanzibar (June 2021-Present)

  • Adjudicating civil and criminal cases
  • conducting legal research and writing judgement.
  • Participated in writing Gender Bench Book on Women Rights for Judges and Magistrate in Zanzibar 2023 (in collaboration with TAWJA-Tanzania Women Judges' Association and UN Women).

State Attorney & Public Prosecutor at Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Zanzibar (2015-June 2021)

  • conducted investigation of serious crimes example murder, manslaughter and economic crimes.
  • Provided legal opinion and prosecutorial decision on the files presented to me by DPP.
  • Prosecuted criminal cases before the Court of law.
  • Conducted legal research on different areas.

Legal officer at Said Attorney & Associates (2014-October 2015)

  • Conducted legal research, drafted legal documents, and provide support in court proceedings.
  • Assisted in client consultations and communicated with opposing counsels.
  • Assisted attorneys in trial preparations and attended Court hearings.

  • Participated in moot court competitions, enhancing oral advocacy skills.
  • Published a research paper on the Laws relating to labor disputes settlement Procedures in Zanzibar and legal analysis on the laws relating to Plea-bargaining (a case study China and Zanzibar).
