The annual lecture honours the memory and legacy of Helen Kanzira, a pioneer graduate of the Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa (HRDA) programme and a distinguished advocate for women’s rights on the African continent. The lecture serves as a platform for critical engagement on advancing women’s human rights and gender equality in Africa.


Mrs. Ramata Oumar Sall isKeynote Speaker

Mrs Ramata Oumar Sall is a Senegalese legal expert specialising in human rights, gender issues, and the fight against gender-based violence. Deeply committed to the protection of the rights of women and vulnerable groups, she has extensive experience in legal assistance, advocacy, training, and project management.

She has collaborated with several national and international organisations, including UN Women, UNFPA, and UNDP, and currently holds leadership positions within civil society organisations. Mrs Sall holds Master’s degrees in Defence, Peace and Security, and in Human Rights. Her work focuses on promoting social justice, gender equality, and the protection of human rights.
