There is a need to create safe spaces for women and girls. Our homes, workplaces, schools and streets should be safe spaces. Most times, perpetrators of rape and sexual harassment are known to victims and survivors.

These perpetrators could be intimate partners, brothers, uncles, employers, school principals and even neighbours. There is a need to adopt robust rape and sexual harassment laws and policies with clear remedial action points. Survivors and victims need to be empowered to speak out against perpetrators of rape and sexual harassment even when they are in positions of power.
