The Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria is pleased to announce a pilot short course on business and human rights that will be held at the University of Pretoria, from 4 - 8 July 2016.

The course is presented with support from the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Regional Office for Southern Africa.

The short course will take place during the same week as the General Assembly of the African Coalition for Corporate Accountability (ACCA), scheduled for 6 - 7 July 2016, also taking place at the University of Pretoria.

As such, the General Assembly will form part of the course, and give participants the opportunity to attend and participate in the General Assembly.

The course will give participants the opportunity to engage with experts from across the world, and have discussions on issues that include:

  • The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
  • Gender in business and human rights
  • International financial institutions and human rights
  • Tax and human rights
  • Business and human rights policy at the international level
  • Remedy mechanisms in the context of business and human rights
