In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, in collaboration with the Department of Library Services, cordially invites you to a screening of the film Queen of Katwe and the I am Woman photo exhibition.
FILM SCREENING: QUEEN OF KATWE
Queen of Katwe is a story about hope, courage, determination and skill. Phiona, a Ugandan girl living in a slum in Katwe, dared to hope, despite the despair piled around her. Phiona, who learns to play chess and eventually competes in the World Chess Olympiads, becomes a beacon of hope to her entire community.
