As this eventful year winds down, the Centre gladly shares with you some of the highlights in our activities over the last two months. We have been busy! The annual Human Rights Graduation took place on 9 December. Its highlight was the award of the Vera Chirwa Award to two alumni who are leaving deep footprints in the human rights landscape in Africa: Namibian Minister of Justice Yvonne Dausab, and Malawian High Court Judge Redson Kapindu. The Centre organised two advanced short courses; hosted numerous capacity-building events, held two pan-African conferences and launched a number of publications.

All this would, quite evidently, not have been possible without the Centre's dedicated, energetic and talented staff. Warm and sincere thanks and admiration! Allow me to single out Professor Charles Fombad, the Director of the Institute for International and Comparative Law in Africa, who was honoured as the University's best researcher; and Dr Nkatha Murungi, whose promotion as associate professor has been confirmed.

I use this opportunity to also thank all our partners and supporters for walking alongside us during 2022. Much appreciation!

May you all have an enjoyable and restful end-of-the year time. We hope to continue, together, to advance human rights in Africa in 2023.
