The Migrants’ Rights Clinic supports the research and advocacy mandate of the Migrants’ Rights Unit. It offers students practical experience in migrants’ rights research, legal and policy monitoring, documentation and advocacy, while contributing to the Unit’s work on the protection of migrants and forcibly displaced persons across Africa.
The Clinic does not operate as a legal aid clinic and does not provide individual legal advice, representation or casework services.
Clinic mandates for 2023
- Writing and publishing a blog article;
- Producing and publishing a short video advocating for the adoption of the Draft Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Specific Aspects of the Right to a Nationality and the Eradication of Statelessness in Africa; and
- Conducting research on recent legal developments pertaining to migrants in Africa, compiling and submitting relevant snippets.
