The Centre for Human Rights, Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria, wishes to congratulate Dr Rimdolmsom Jonathan Kabre on his recent achievement. Dr Kabre, a post-doctoral research fellow at International Development Law Unit (IDLU), was awarded the 2020 Law Faculty Prize (Prix de Faculté) from the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) for the best doctoral dissertation. Dr Kabre was also awarded a grant to support the publication of his dissertation. This prize was awarded during the Opening Ceremony for the 2020 courses at the University of Lausanne, which took place on 15 September 2020.
In his dissertation, and through a comparative analysis of case-law of selected international courts and tribunals, he examines the role of private lawyers (counsel and advocates) in the settlement of international disputes and their contribution to the development of international law. The monograph, coming from this dissertation, is in the editing process and should be out before the end of the year.
Dr Kabre is also the Programme Manager of the LLM in International Trade and Investment Law in Africa (TILA) presented by Centre for Human Rights and his research is focused on the areas of global economic governance, business and human rights and the settlement of international disputes.
The Centre for Human Rights is very proud of Dr Kabre with this achievement and wishes him all the best with his work at the Centre and in his future endeavours.
