This event is the first of a series of discussions of decisions by African human rights bodies.
The cases under consideration are Rajabu v United Republic of Tanzania Application 8/2016 and Henerico v United Republic of Tanzania Application 56/2016, in which the Court held that the death penalty by hanging violates the African Charter. The discussion will feature representatives from: the African Court, the Counsel to the applicants, the government of Tanzania, the academia and civil society.
