The LLM in Multidisciplinary Human Rights aims to

  1. Provide students with a multidisciplinary understanding of Human Rights
    Equip students with knowledge that includes law, political science, development, sociology, and related disciplines, to understand human rights issues from multiple perspectives.
  2. Strengthen Critical Thinking and Research Skills
    Train students to critically analyze human rights challenges, formulate arguments, and conduct independent research that contributes to academic and policy debates.
  3. Promote Regional and Global Human Rights Awareness
    Provide in-depth knowledge of the African human rights system while also examining international human rights norms and mechanisms.
  4. Encourage Practical Engagement with Human Rights Work
    Prepare students for impactful careers through real-world case studies, interaction with practitioners, and an understanding of advocacy, policy, and institutional frameworks.
  5. Advance Human Rights Scholarship in Africa
    Contribute to the development of a new generation of African scholars and practitioners committed to social justice, equality, and the rule of law.
  6. Support Diversity and Inclusion in Human Rights Discourse
    Embrace and promote diverse cultural, disciplinary, and experiential perspectives within the student body and curriculum.
