Description of entry:
The Machine - In this video, the audio contains snippets of Charlie Chaplin's famous speech from the movie The Great Dictator. This is merged with Enya's song, "Adiemus", which is notorius for its tone of unity and ethnicity. The concept behind the visual style is linked to Chaplin's words, "You are not machines". The motion graphics depict a technological, rigid environment which contrasts the freedom that is encouraged in the audio, both by Chaplin's words and the inspirational music. This " machine" breaks free at the mention of its freedom, "...you are men!". The animation is focused on typographical motion, therefore emotively depicting the words from this speech without the use or distraction of blatant imagery.
