Submissions
- University of Pretoria staff and students are invited to think creatively and submit a visual or oral representation that captures one of the UDHR rights. Prizes will be awarded to the winner and runner-up in each category.
- Winner per category: An amount of R5 000 in cash.
- Runner-up per category: An amount of R3 000 in cash.
- A total of 8 prizes will be awarded.
- Shortlisted submissions will receive a special mention.
Deadline
Categories
Category 1: Still image
Category 1 permits the submission of an originally produced visual still image, which may include but is not limited to:
- Illustration
- Photograph
- Poster
- Comic
- Cartoon
- Painting
- Graffiti (photos of the graffiti that was originally created by the entrant)
NOTE: Each visual submission must include a short title, the right in the UDHR that is being addressed and a description not exceeding 100 words.
Category 2: Audio-visual performance / presentation
Category 2 permits the submission of an originally produced audio-visual performance or presentation /video, which may include but is not limited to:
- Video
- Animation
- Theatre plays
- Parody
- Poetry recital (combined with originally produced moving images / video)
- Reading of original piece (combined with originally produced moving images / video)
- Music video (combined with originally produced music)
- Choreographed performance
- Sign language rendition
NOTE: Each submission must be in a standard video format (mov, avi, mpeg, wmv and mp4) and the length must not exceed 4 minutes. The submission must include a short title, the right in the UDHR that is being addressed and a description not exceeding 100 words.
Category 3: Audio/ Oral performance / presentation
Category 3 permits the submission of originally produced audio recording or presentation, which may include but is not limited to:
- Performed audio drama
- Parody
- Poetry recital
- Reading of original piece
- Speech
- Music
- Podcast
NOTE: Each submission must be in a standard audio format (mp3, wav, wma) and the length must not exceed 4 minutes. The submission must include a short title, the right in the UDHR that is being addressed and a description not exceeding 100 words.
Category 4: Written submission
Category 4 permits the submission of originally produced written material, which may include but is not limited to:
- Essay
- Short story
- Poem
- Reflective diary
NOTE: Each submission must be addressed to your favourite human rights hero and must be in a standard word processing format (Microsoft Word) and must not exceed 1000 words. The submission must include a short title, the right in the UDHR that is being addressed and a description not exceeding 100 words.
