Ms Christen Rao | Durban, South Africa
Bachelor of Laws (LLB), University of KwaZulu-Natal
Previous experience
Prior to joining the HRDA program, I focused on the intersection of law and technology, specifically as an AI governance researcher and club organiser for BlueDot Impact. My experience includes leading discussions on AI governance papers and facilitating an Africa-wide circle for the School of Moral Ambition centered on ethical leadership. My academic foundation consists of a Bachelor of Laws from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a data science bootcamp qualification, which I have supplemented with specialised certifications in AGI strategy, AI safety fundamentals and AI Governance. I focus on this field to ensure that emerging technologies in Africa are governed by frameworks that protect fundamental human rights and strengthen democratic institutions.
