Previous experience

Rejoice Mugero Nyirenda is a Lawyer and a dedicated human rights Activist from Malawi. Her academic and professional footprint extends across the Southern African region, with a proven track record of impact in Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. She has served at several prominent law firms across the SADC region, including Muvhami Law Chambers (Zimbabwe), as well as Chidothe & Company and Messrs Brown & Bailey (Malawi).

Rejoice has actively participated in championing the rights of marginalised and vulnerable groups in the region through community engagement, advocacy, policy development, and research with organisations such as Amnesty International (Kenya), African Voices Dialogue(South Africa), the Centre for Human Rights Advice and Assistance, Vital Rights Foundation(Malawi), and the Women Lawyers Association of Malawi.

Her academic journey is marked by specialized certifications from prestigious institutions, including; University of Cambridge (Bennett Institute for Public Policy): The Wealth Economy and Sustainable Development and the Law, Amnesty International: Regional Human Rights Campaigners Training, Law Education and Advocacy Organisation: Democracy and Good Governance in Africa, and Center for Human Rights, University of Pretoria: Accountable Policing-Oversight and the Criminal justice system in Africa.

Rejoice is an alumna of the YALI Southern Africa Regional Leadership Centre. To date, she continues to leverage her Leadership training to drive positive change within her community. She actively mentors youth from underserved backgrounds through partnerships with Organisations such as Global Mentoring Initiative, Educational Equality Institute and Girls for Girls Uganda. Her work focuses on equipping the next generation with essential leadership, professional, and advocacy skills.
